I worked on a fun product development project alongside my teammate Muskaan Shukla. We were tasked to look for white space opportunities (formula & packaging) within a beauty subcategory to create a new & innovative product that would, later on, be introduced by a brand of our choice. While deeply analyzing the hand cream market, consumer trends, and the global environment we came across two huge opportunities:
- The first being to create hand creams that protect the skin against Blue Light damage caused by constant use/exposure to electronic devices.
- Secondly, to innovate the form & packaging of hand creams, making them less wasteful and more sustainable, eliminating any non-recyclable components (caps & pumps).
So, our final concept was:
To create zero-waste hand cream capsules infused with a "Blue Light Technology Complex" composed of clean active ingredients to fully protect the skin and fight anti-aging due to blue light. These capsules come inside 100% biodegradable packaging made of sugarcane plastic taking 3-6 months to compose when tossed. Finally, the brand we chose to implement and introduce this concept is TATCHA. This product would reinforce the brand's commitment to sustainability and establish it as a leader in innovation.
